Some journeys look simple on a map. But commercial schedules can complicate matters.
For many London families, life takes place in more than one location. A home in the city during the week. Children at school abroad or elsewhere in the UK. A second house somewhere warmer where weekends are meant to slow down a little.
For this particular family, the plan was straightforward: leave London on Friday, collect their children from school in Switzerland, and continue on to their house in northern Italy for the weekend.
On paper it sounded simple.
In reality, commercial flights meant juggling airline schedules, airport queues and long onward drives. The timings didn’t work comfortably, and most of Friday would have disappeared in transit.
Instead, they chartered a private jet from Farnborough.
Departing late Friday morning, the aircraft flew directly to Switzerland where the children were collected from a the private jet terminal of Geneva airport close to their school. After a short stop, the journey continued south across the Alps, landing in northern Italy mid-afternoon.
By early evening the family were already settling in for the weekend.
What could have been a long and fragmented travel day became a smooth, door-to-door journey, designed entirely around their plans.
The value of a jet for this scenario lies in flexibility and complete convenience
Private aviation is often associated with luxury, but for many clients the real value lies elsewhere: flexibility, privacy, and the ability to travel between places that commercial airlines simply do not connect conveniently.
For families with homes, schools and businesses across different countries, those small advantages quickly become essential.
Our client is firmly converted to using a jet for these family weekends. They said:
“Not every journey we make requires a private jet. But our weekend trips simply work better with one.”
