Aircraft Guide
There are many different types of aircraft available for private charter, and each one is suited to a particular type of journey. Some are designed for short flights and small groups, while others are built for long-range travel or larger parties.
Our individual guides will help you understand the main aircraft categories so you can make an informed choice about the one that best fits your trip. When you contact us, our team will advise on the most suitable option once we know your route, number of passengers, and preferences.
Very Light Jets
Very light jets (also known as entry-level jets) are ideal for short trips of up to two or three hours. They usually seat 4–5 passengers and are perfect for quick business flights or weekend travel around the UK and Europe. These jets are economical and can access smaller airports with shorter runways.
Examples: Cessna Citation Mustang, Embraer Phenom 100
Light Jets
Light jets are a step up in terms of comfort and range. They usually seat 6–8 passengers and can fly for around 3 to 4 hours. They offer a bit more cabin space and sometimes include a small enclosed toilet. These are often used for short European trips or regional business travel.
Examples: Hawker 400XP, Citation CJ2, Learjet 45
Midsize Jets
With space for around 7–9 passengers, midsize jets offer a more spacious cabin and a longer range – typically 4 to 5 hours of flight time. They’re a good option for slightly longer journeys across Europe or into North Africa. Most have enclosed toilets and some offer stand-up cabins.
Examples: Citation XLS+, Hawker 800XP, Learjet 60
Super Midsize Jets
These aircraft combine long-range performance with comfort. They usually seat 8–10 passengers and can fly for around 5 to 6 hours. With stand-up cabins, in-flight entertainment and more luggage space, they’re often chosen for both business and leisure flights further afield.
Examples: Challenger 350, Citation Sovereign, Gulfstream G200
Heavy Jets
Heavy jets offer a high level of comfort and a longer range. With seating for 10–14 passengers and flight times of 6–8 hours, they’re suitable for longer trips across Europe, the Middle East or parts of Africa. These aircraft often include a flight attendant, a full galley, and lie-flat seating.
Examples: Challenger 605, Falcon 900, Gulfstream GIV-SP
Ultra-Long Range Jets
These aircraft are designed for intercontinental travel. They typically seat 12–16 passengers and can fly 10+ hours non-stop. Popular for transatlantic and global routes, they offer full-sized cabins, separate seating and sleeping areas, onboard Wi-Fi and catering.
Examples: Gulfstream G650, Bombardier Global 6000, Falcon 7X
Commuter Aircraft
Commuter aircraft are small regional planes typically seating between 18 and 50 passengers. They’re a practical choice for short routes and group travel where larger jets aren’t needed. These aircraft are often used for corporate shuttles, crew movements, or events where multiple passengers need to travel together on a simple point-to-point route. Interiors range from basic to business-style seating, and many can operate into regional or less accessible airports.
Examples: Jetstream 31, Dornier 328, Saab 340
Helicopters
Helicopter charters are ideal for short journeys, especially where access by road is limited. They’re often used for transfers, events, or visiting multiple locations in a day. Most helicopters seat 4–6 passengers and land at private sites, hotels, or helipads.
Examples: Agusta AW109, Bell 429, Eurocopter EC135
