The Quiet Party: The art of celebrating and travelling without the noise
The Quiet Party: The art of celebrating and travelling without the noise
In the office we recently created a new phrase for a certain type of travel – The Quiet Party.
I admit it came out of a conversation about the point in life when you start thinking: ‘I would rather be in bed’ when you are out partying.
However, regardless of this, the idea behind the quiet party is travelling in a way that still feels euphoric, but in a grown-up way. Exhilarating and every bit as joyful as the parties of our twenties, but now shared with people we really care about and visiting places that ignite our souls. A best friend who makes you laugh until your stomach hurts. A sibling who remembers the same embarrassing stories. All while taking in culture, nature, learning opportunities, or whatever really touches you. The ‘party’ is created by taking pleasure in immersing yourself with the best company in the best places and really taking the time to enjoy the warm, funny, amazing moments this kind of travel creates.
Some trips are loud because they feed on spectacle: music festivals, New Year’s parties, beach clubs – they are brilliant when we need noise and crowds.
But celebration doesn’t always need to be loud. When you have a companion who knows how you take your coffee and when not to speak and when you want conversation – that feels like luxury.
Arriving by private jet fits this quiet party perfectly. With a private jet you can opt out – avoiding attention and interaction with others who aren’t in your group.
Stepping onto the aircraft your private ‘quiet party’ begins: comfortably and in good company, with a glass of something you requested when you booked, and the knowledge that everything will be just as you wanted it to be without unwelcome interruptions. You land fully relaxed, and already in the zone to enjoy where you are.
There’s a special kind of thrill in exploring places that don’t compete for your attention. Wandering around an open-air sculpture park with your grown up children, debating whether a piece is genius or just “bold landscaping.” Or strolling through an art trail with a friend who loves photography. No crowds pushing you along, no “must see” lists – just discovery at your pace.
Then there are vineyards! Do you have favourite wines? Favourite grapes, regions or a wide ranging eclectic taste? Make a list and fly to each and every vineyard on it – this is the best type of travel! Wine poured by the makers for people who aren’t in a rush. You and your friends trying to decide whether the notes are cherry or pomegranate, and curated tastings and tours – just for you. Great company, great wine and most probably views and chateaux that you’ll remember forever.
A quiet party can still be wild – just in a way that leaves you refreshed. A midnight swim with your favourite person feels like a secret ritual. The sea is warm, the stars might cooperate, The water just holds you up.
Greece is perfect for this. So are quieter coves in Mallorca, hidden beaches in Portugal, or the volcanic shallows of the Azores. Fly in by private jet, stay somewhere close to the shoreline, slip into the water after dinner, and return to bed without a single regret. The thrill is exactly the same as the noisier nights we adored years ago – we’ve just swapped dance floors for saltwater and moonlight.
Have you ever had that unforgettable moment of meeting an author who shaped the way you think?
If you love reading, explore book festivals around the world – go with someone who loves language. Your sister who reads three books at once. Your son who now “borrows” novels and forgets to return them. A best friend who highlights quotes and then texts them to you months later. Share the love of ideas.
Arriving by private jet makes these festivals feel like personal pilgrimages. Pick the best days, dodge the worst queues. Your flight home becomes the after-party: favourite sentences, favourite speakers, favourite new discoveries.
The quiet party is about choosing your company and your pace thoughtfully. Private jet travel protects that decision. It keeps your time, your mood, and your celebration intact.
It takes a calm sense of joy to celebrate quietly, with the people who matter, in places that reward attention rather than stamina. The world is still full of parties. Loud or quiet!
