Thousands of Miles, Hundreds of Conversations, One Simple Belief
Recently we set ourselves a challenge. It was a simple idea on paper, but one that would take us from one end of the UK to the other over many months, meeting people, building relationships and spending time face-to-face.
Get out from behind our desks. Get in the car. Travel the country. Meet people properly, conversations, catch-ups, and genuine connections.
Recently, after over 160 visits we reached the final stop on that journey.
Our most northerly visit, in St Andrews, Scotland, marked the completion of a project that has taken us thousands of miles across the UK and introduced us to some brilliant people along the way. James – thank you for making our last stop extra special.
Looking back, what we’re most proud of isn’t the distance covered, it’s the relationships we’ve built.
Why Personal Connection Matters
For us, we’ve always believed that business is personal.
That might sound old-fashioned in a world of automation, AI, and endless digital communication, but we see evidence of it every single day.
When people are making important decisions, they want to know who they’re dealing with. Our clients want confidence in the person at the other end of the phone and reassurance that somebody genuinely understands what’s important to them.
Trust is still built between people, over time. Our clients call us because they know there is a real person ready to help when they need us.
Relationships
One of the biggest lessons we’ve learned over the years is that the strongest business relationships aren’t built when somebody needs something.
They’re built long before that moment arrives, making time for a coffee. Checking in with someone, stopping by to say hello. We believe that’s where genuine trust comes from. When somebody eventually does need support with their flights, they already know who they’re calling.
The Difference Between Contacts and Relationships
A relationship means understanding the person behind the business card. Understanding what matters to them, the pressures they face and how they like to work.
Often the most valuable discussions aren’t about business at all – they’re about families, travel and shared experiences.
The challenges of running a business, the realities of delivering exceptional service. Those conversations create a foundation that no email can replicate.
Showing Up Matters
There’s also something powerful about making the effort. In an age of virtual meetings, showing up in person has become surprisingly rare.
This is why this challenge really mattered to us, getting out of the office and making the journey to see the people we speak to on the phone.
A Belief That Hasn’t Changed
The aviation industry has changed significantly over the years.
Technology has evolved and communication is instant.
Yet one thing has remains people still want to deal with real people.
They want to know that when they pick up the phone, somebody capable and trustworthy will answer.
That’s a belief we’ve held since the beginning and it’s one that remains at the heart of how we operate today.
It’s why we answer the phone around the clock.
Looking Ahead
Completing this challenge doesn’t mean the travelling stops.
Far from it.
We’ll continue making the effort to visit people, get out to the airports, strengthen relationships and stay connected to the communities and businesses that matter to us.
Because whilst aviation is what we do, relationships are what make it possible.
After thousands of miles, hundreds of conversations and countless coffees, we’ve come away with the same conclusion we started with:
Personal connection still matters.
Perhaps now more than ever.
